Mattioli, the Turin jewellery house founded in 1860, now has a new home in Milan. The brand has opened a boutique at number 1 Via della Spiga, one of the city’s best-known luxury shopping streets, and Vanity Fair Italia reports that it marked the moment with a cocktail party designed to bring a little of Turin to the heart of Milan.
Craft on show
Rather than simply filling the new space with finished pieces, Mattioli chose to show how they are made. Three engravers and a goldsmith worked live inside the boutique during the evening, giving guests a close look at the precise, patient handwork behind every piece of fine jewellery. It was a neat way to remind visitors that the label’s story is rooted in workshop skill as much as in design.
The Turin connection carried through the rest of the night. Guido Gobino, a long-established name in Turin chocolate making, provided sweet treats, florist Marco Segantin dressed the rooms with an elaborate floral installation, and catering came from The Golden Spoon. Artist Maurizio Galimberti also took part, creating portraits of guests on the spot, while Catherine Poulain closed the evening with a DJ set. In a post on LinkedIn, the company described the party as a dialogue between two cities: Turin, where its identity and craftsmanship were born, and Milan, where a new chapter begins. The house is led by its CEOs Licia Mattioli and Claudio Pasta.
A new face for the Puzzle collection
The opening also served as a showcase for Chiara Ferragni, recently named the brand’s new ambassador. According to the Italian luxury site MyLuxury, her first campaign for the house was filmed by the Morelli Brothers during the summer at the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, the grand royal hunting lodge just outside Turin. In it she wears pieces from Mattioli’s signature Puzzle collection, known for interchangeable coloured elements that can be swapped to suit an outfit, set in rose and yellow gold with brilliant-cut diamond pavé. Ferragni wore the same collection at the Milan party.
The idea of jewellery you can mix and change is an easy one to borrow at home. Stack a few rings in different tones, try a colourful multi-gemstone ring, layer slim bracelets, or choose a coordinated look from our jewellery sets and switch your earrings from day to evening.
