Giorgia Cardinaletti: A Quietly Elegant Wedding in Fabriano

Italian television journalist Giorgia Cardinaletti, one of the best-known faces of Rai’s flagship news programme Tg1, married fellow journalist Francesco Bechis on Saturday 10 October in Fabriano, the town in the Marche region where she grew up. The ceremony took place in the Cathedral of San Venanzio, and despite heavy rain, plenty of locals gathered outside to cheer on one of Fabriano’s most famous daughters.

A bride who said no to fuss

Cardinaletti, 39, skipped the veil, the lace and the embroidery altogether. According to Adnkronos and Il Resto del Carlino, she wore a smooth ivory gown with a soft, fluid line, a round neckline and long sheer tulle sleeves gently gathered at the shoulder. The designer has not been named. She carried a bouquet of white roses and eucalyptus and walked to the cathedral through the old town with her brothers, Michelangelo and Raffaello, who then took her to the altar and served as witnesses alongside her cousin Camilla.

The groom, a 31-year-old reporter for Il Messaggero, matched her quiet mood in a navy three-piece suit with a white shirt, a pale ivory tie and a white rose in his buttonhole. He arrived around half an hour early in a pale blue vintage NSU Ro 80 tied with a white ribbon. Guests included skier Sofia Goggia and singer-songwriter Niccolò Fabi, and the celebrations moved on to the historic villa of the Marchese del Grillo for a dinner of Marche food and wine, followed by a DJ set.

Soft waves, pearly eyes and one jewelled clip

Vanity Fair Italia asked two Milan beauty professionals to read the look. Hairstylist Matteo Orlando pointed to loose, wide waves worn down over the shoulders with 1970s-style curtain bangs, finished with a clip covered in tiny white flowers at the nape, a bridal touch that did the job of a veil. Make-up artist Marika Palumbo noted that the eyes were the focus: pale, pearly eyeshadow and well-defined black lashes, with a soft complexion and a nude lipstick keeping everything else understated.

It is a lovely lesson for anyone planning a wedding: when the dress is simple, a single well-chosen accessory carries the whole look. A pair of delicate earrings with a gentle glow, such as our moonstone earrings, echoes that pearly finish beautifully, while our jewellery sets make it easy to coordinate on the big day.
