Every great career has an origin story, and Giorgia’s begins with an artichoke festival and a pair of wet boots. The Italian singer, one of the country’s best-loved voices, was a guest of Fabio Fazio on Che tempo che fa on Sunday 25 October 2026, where she presented her new album G+1 and performed the single “Parafulmini” live. Asked about her very first concert, she burst out laughing before telling the story.
A debut that started at the bottom
Her first ever gig, she said, was at the Sagra del Carciofo in Ladispoli, the seaside town near Rome that celebrates its artichokes every year. It had rained, it was cold, and the stage was slippery. Giorgia explained that she was wearing her favourite combat boots, because heels were not her style back then, and she slipped on her way up, arriving on stage sitting down. She called it one of the lowest moments of her life, then added with a grin that from there she could only climb back up.
She remembered the evening as an autumn night, although CinemaSerieTV gently pointed out that artichokes are a spring crop, so the festival, now in its 73rd edition, more likely took place around April. Either way, the climb she promised came true. Vanity Fair Italia notes that she is now presenting X Factor on Sky for the third year in a row, and praises her talent for laughing at herself instead of turning small disasters into drama.
A wedding still waiting to be planned
The conversation also turned to her long relationship with dancer and choreographer Emanuel Lo, the father of her son Samuel. As Il Fatto Quotidiano reported, Giorgia told Fazio that he proposed sixteen years ago and she said yes straight away. The problem, she joked, is that neither of them ever got round to organising anything: no church, no planner, no date. Asked whether things would stay that way, she said probably yes, adding that by now it almost feels like tempting fate to change it.
There is something refreshing about a star who keeps her stories this down to earth. The same spirit works for style: practical, personal and never too precious. If you like that easy confidence, a pair of everyday earrings, a meaningful pendant necklace or a ring you never take off will carry you from the festival stage to the TV studio. And for an autumn evening out, rain or shine, a hands-free crossbody bag helps you keep your balance.
