Coffee and crystal are not an obvious pairing, which is exactly why the festive collaboration between Nespresso and Swarovski has caught so much attention. As Vanity Fair Italia reports, the limited-edition range of coffees and accessories went on sale on 22 October across Nespresso’s channels, timed to add a little shine to the coffee breaks of the Christmas season. Nespresso first announced the partnership on 29 September, describing packaging inspired by Swarovski’s signature octagonal shape and colour palette.
Coffees with a festive twist
At the heart of the collection are two new blends: Crystal Spark Espresso for Original machines and Crystal Spark Double Espresso for Vertuo. Nespresso describes a blend of South American Arabicas from Guatemala and Costa Rica with Asian Robusta, bringing notes of toasted cereal, smooth cocoa, caramel and gentle spice. Two flavoured coffees lean openly towards the pastry counter: Hazelnut Brownie, which recalls dark chocolate brownie and roasted hazelnuts, and Blueberry Cheesecake, with blueberry, cheesecake and caramel notes. Vanity Fair Italia notes they can be enjoyed on their own or used as the base for more elaborate drinks.
Accessories made to be kept
The part that will interest anyone who loves a little sparkle is the accessories, designed to stay on display long after the decorations come down. There are Pixie Cups in vivid green (espresso size) and pink (lungo size), plus two faceted crystal ornaments shaped like the Original and Vertuo capsules, finished with a satin ribbon so they can hang on the tree. A green stainless-steel Travel Mug carries Swarovski’s signature pattern, and its matching holder is set with 36 green crystals. The CitiZ Platinum machine has also been reworked with crystal embellishments, and the traditional Advent calendar returns with capsules, small treats and Madagascan milk chocolates moulded to echo cut crystals.
It is a reminder of how much a facet and a flash of colour can change an everyday object.
