Paris Fashion Week closed on 6 October 2026, ending a busy fashion month. According to W Magazine, the official spring/summer 2027 schedule ran from 28 September to 6 October and included 68 runway shows and 34 presentations. Across the reviews from Vogue, Wallpaper* and others, a few clear ideas kept coming back.
Lightness above all
The word most critics reached for was “lightness”. Wallpaper* reported that Nicolas Ghesquière closed the week at Louis Vuitton in the Cour Carrée of the Louvre, reworking wardrobe classics in ultra-lightweight fabrics he described as being “like a second skin”. The magazine noted the same pursuit of airiness at Hermès under Nadège Vanhée and at Dior under Jonathan Anderson. Sheer layers, chiffon, organza and lingerie-inspired pieces appeared again and again, and Vogue suggested that the unusually warm October in Paris made these summery collections feel especially fitting.
The season of the skirt, and the shoe
Skirts were everywhere. Buyers quoted by Vogue called it “the season of the skirt”, pointing to Dries Van Noten and Valentino, where elaborate skirts were styled with simple shirts. Shoes were the other big story. Vogue reported that Matthieu Blazy sent out 83 looks at Chanel, each finished with a different pair of heels, while a gold snake shoe at Saint Laurent became one of the most talked-about accessories of the week. Gold was a strong theme at Saint Laurent overall, with Wallpaper* describing a gilded collection from Anthony Vaccarello.
Craft and colour
Spanish magazine VEIN summed up the mood as lightness, sensuality and craft, highlighting intricate knitwear, lace, embroidery and handmade details, plus flashes of bright colour against black, white and neutrals. Outside the shows, W noted that on 2 October President Emmanuel Macron presented Nicolas Ghesquière with the insignia of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour at the Élysée Palace.
For anyone planning their own spring wardrobe, light fabrics and a touch of gold are a simple way in. Delicate earrings or a fine pendant necklace sit well with sheer layers, and a slim bracelet keeps the look airy.
