The Attico has reached double figures. The Milan label founded by Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini marked its tenth anniversary at Milan Fashion Week with its Spring/Summer 2027 show on 25 September, and in a new conversation with Vanity Fair Italia the two creative directors explained the beauty codes behind the brand that so many Gen Z “cool girls” follow.
A show staged in bed
Instead of benches, guests found a dark tunnel lined with two rows of beds, some neatly made and some rumpled, and were handed martinis as they arrived, according to WWD and CR Fashion Book. The show was titled “Quando Nessuno Guarda”, or “When No One Looks”, and WWD and Vogue Italia report that it drew on a line attributed to Gabriel García Márquez: that everyone has a public life, a private life and a secret life. The designers chose to explore the last of the three, the version of a woman that appears when nobody is watching.
Beauty played a bigger role than usual. Vanity Fair Italia notes that the models wore loose, sensual hair with soft waves created by Jawara Wauchope for L’Oréal Professionnel, along with playful, glittering crystal make-up. Each look was styled as its own character, from sharp tailoring to lingerie.
Attitude over perfection
Off the runway, the duo’s own approach is far simpler. They told Vanity Fair Italia that the secret is to stay fairly natural: minimal make-up, lived-in hair and no overly constructed idea of perfection, with room for one unexpected twist. What really makes an impression, they said, is not preparation but attitude: the way a woman carries what she wears, how she moves and how she feels. Their two non-negotiables are tidy hair and “juicy” lips.
Looking back on ten years, Ambrosio and Tordini said they measure success by longevity and by still recognising themselves in what they have built. Their references range from Italian cinema and Italian radical design to nightlife and club culture, from Studio 54 to the electronic music scene.
Bringing the look home
That mix of ease and sparkle is easy to borrow. Keep the base natural and let one piece catch the light: statement earrings with loose waves, or fine pendant necklaces layered over a slip dress or a leather jacket. A deep red stone such as our garnet earrings pairs well with a juicy lip, while a coordinated jewellery set takes the guesswork out of evening dressing.
