Even global pop stars need a proper plate of pasta. On the evening of 28 October, Dua Lipa slipped into Speciale Osteria, a modern trattoria on Via Pastrengo in Milan’s Isola district, for a relaxed dinner with her stylist Lorenzo Posocco and two friends. Vanity Fair Italia, which spoke to the restaurant’s team, reports that she arrived just after eight and was given a quiet corner with sofas in the room overlooking the open kitchen.
What was on the table
The group shared a spread of starters: mondeghili (Milan’s little fried meatballs), gnocco fritto with cured meats, grilled asparagus, the house vitello tonnato and a grilled broccolino with goat’s cheese and salted almonds. According to the staff, that last dish was the hit of the night. The singer kept the plate firmly on her side of the table and laughingly repeated “broccoli!” while the others drank Verdicchio by the glass. She chose a Negroni instead, which, as her waiter joked, is fitting in a city raised on risotto and Campari.
Mains included a bone-in veal cutlet, which she insisted on cutting herself, pumpkin tortelli with goat’s cheese fondue and chestnuts, and pici cacio e pepe with courgette flowers. Dessert turned into a friendly contest over the cream-filled cannoncini wheeled out on a trolley, followed by buffalo-milk gelato and tiramisu. The dishes she ordered all appear on the osteria’s own published menu, which leans on Lombard and Piedmontese cooking, Slow Food producers and a whole section devoted to vegetables.
An Italian love story
Her fondness for Italian food is no secret. In June, during the honeymoon that followed her wedding to actor Callum Turner in Palermo, the couple stopped for lunch at Concettina ai Tre Santi, the historic pizzeria in Naples’ Rione Sanità, which posted a photo with the newlyweds on Instagram, as reported by Corriere della Sera and Il Messaggero. In Milan, Vanity Fair Italia says her comfort dish is the tagliatelle al ragù at Dal Bolognese.
The off-duty dinner look
Her outfit was a lesson in effortless dressing: pointed heels, light straight-leg jeans, a soft black coat and a red leather Chanel bag for a single flash of colour. It is an easy formula to borrow. Pair a dark coat with one bright accessory, such as one of our shoulder bags or a hands-free crossbody bag, then finish with polished earrings and a delicate pendant necklace that work as well at a candlelit table as they do in the office.
