Kim Kardashian has given an old Instagram favourite a quiet update. At the New York premiere of the second season of All’s Fair on 2 November 2026, the star wore a make-up look built around what beauty editors are calling a semi-halo eyeliner: a soft, smoky frame for the eyes with a deliberate gleam of light left at the centre of the lower lash line.
A halo, but only underneath
Around a decade ago the “halo eye” was everywhere online. The idea was simple: a lighter, shimmering shade blended into the middle of the lid, with deeper tones around it, so the eye looked as if a spotlight had caught it. The new version, created by make-up artist Ariel Tejada, moves the effect to the lower lash line. Instead of drawing one unbroken dark line, black pencil is concentrated at the inner and outer corners, leaving a pale, frosty sliver just beneath the pupil. That small gap in the darkness creates the glowing halo.
The upper lash line, by contrast, was given a crisp sweep of black liner. A cool taupe shadow on the lid and a warmer brown in the crease added depth, and full, fluttery lashes brought the drama. As Vanity Fair Italia put it, the result was a languid, dreamy gaze; Allure suggested it is a pretty idea to borrow for party season.
The rest of the look
Everything else was kept soft so the eyes stayed in focus. Her skin was gently sculpted, with light pink blush placed high on the cheekbones and a touch of highlighter down the nose. Lips were a cool, pale pink, shaped with a beige liner. Hairstylist Iggy Rosales pulled her hair into a sleek, very long ponytail, leaving two loose strands to frame the face, an echo of the ribbon-like details on her dress.
That dress was a custom pale-grey Ashi Studio gown, styled by Law Roach, with a corset-shaped bodice, lace panels, a train and croc-embossed leather details, including a matching leather neckpiece. People reported that she finished the look with large diamond stud earrings, proof that a single bright detail can do as much for an outfit as it does for the eyes.
How to borrow the idea
The appeal of the semi-halo is that it needs no elaborate blending: dark pencil at the corners, a touch of shimmer in the middle, and a defined top line. Pair it with simple, light-catching earrings or a delicate pendant necklace, and keep the rest calm with a structured handbag or a sleek shoulder bag for evenings out. For a cooler, silvery sparkle that mirrors the frosty centre of the liner, sapphire earrings are a lovely choice.
