Of all the clever, complicated handbags launched in the past year, the one shoppers want most right now is essentially a silk drawstring bag. Prada’s Wish Pouch has topped the Lyst Index for the third quarter of 2026, the fashion search platform’s quarterly ranking of the world’s most wanted brands and products, with searches up 498% on the previous three months. Vanity Fair Italia called it the most desired bag of the moment, and the numbers agree.
A dust bag, elevated
The Wish Pouch first appeared on the runway at Prada’s Spring/Summer 2026 show in Milan in September 2025, where models held it in their fingertips like a clutch. It is made from glossy silk duchesse, gathered with a slim leather drawstring and finished with a small Prada tag. There are no rigid handles, no clasps and no hardware to speak of. It came in shades from black and bronze to grey, soft pink and lilac. Vanity Fair Italia puts the price at €980; Fashionista quotes $1,320 in the US, so simple certainly does not mean cheap.
Many people have pointed out that it looks rather like the cotton dust bags that come with new shoes or handbags. That is part of the charm. Prada has taken something we usually hide in a wardrobe and turned it into the thing everyone wants to carry. Raf Simons, who co-directs the house with Miuccia Prada, said after the show that the world had become very intense, and the pouch was presented as a way to carry only the essentials.
An old idea with a long history
Soft drawstring bags are nothing new. In the early 19th century fashionable women carried the reticule, a small fabric purse closed with a cord, and evening pouches were everywhere in the 1990s and early 2000s. Celine, Valentino, Loewe and Miu Miu have all shown soft gathered bags recently too. Meanwhile, Prada itself returned to first place among brands in the same Lyst report, with demand up 55% over the quarter, its first time at the top since late 2023.
How to wear the look
The appeal is easy to see: a soft pouch works as well with jeans as with a silk dress, and it never takes itself too seriously.
